WHO ARE WE?

The team at Marriage Helper has been in the business of working with relationships for over 25 years. Founded by Dr. Joe Beam, who began his work in academia, relationship research, and quickly becoming a leading relationship expert in America – it wasn’t just Dr. Beam’s approach to relationships from a social sciences and research perspective that led to Marriage Helper’s success…

…but his personal passion for saving marriages, which came from his own story. In the 1980’s, Dr. Beam, a prominent and successful speaker, experienced the downfall of his own marriage. He and his wife divorced for 3 years, and as Joe would tell you himself, during those 3 years he did things he never thought he would do, went places he never thought he would go, and became a person he never thought he would become.

After 3 years of living a life he never thought he would live, he called his ex-wife and asked her to take him back. They didn’t love each other. Alice, his ex-wife, had already started dating. But they had 2 young daughters, and Alice knew that Joe was a good man who had done bad things…and she knew he deserved another chance. They re-married, and almost divorced again because they hadn’t actually fixed anything. But they doubled-down and figured out how to make it work the second time, and as a result of that new marriage, the restoration of all that was lost, they had another daughter… our CEO, Kimberly Beam Holmes.

– Learn and be equipped over 3 days with tools that actually work in marriages facing crisis. These tools have been fine-tuned over 25 years through working with real marriages in real crisis and desperate situations along with using the best research on what makes a strong marriage.

– One of the things that makes this workshop so powerful is the group educational setting. One-on-one counseling causes people to shut down and become defensive. People focus too much on reliving the past and not enough on a better future.

– You will learn about yourself, your spouse, your marriage, and how to have healthier and stronger relationships in the future. We provide hands-on help to rescue your relationship no matter how bad it is right now.

We know that you’ve probably been hurt by others in the past who promise to save your marriage, only to find information that doesn’t work or drives your spouse further away. We understand if you’re hesitant. At Marriage Helper, we seek to save marriages and strengthen families by teaching principles that you can apply to your specific situation. Every marriage is different, and there’s no 3-step plan that is going to work for every single marriage. That’s why we created the Marriage Helper Workshop. It teaches you principles that will work for any situation you might face in your marriage. We’ve been helping marriages for over 25 years. We’d love to help yours, too.

The majority of our solo spouse workshops are held online so you can join from the comfort of your own home. We do, however, offer gender specific in-person solo workshops, so check the dates to see if there are any coming up!

Our Online Workshops are hosted via Zoom. In order to take part, you will need a computer and a stable internet connection.

We begin the workshop at 8 a.m. CT on Friday and Saturday and finish around 6:30 p.m. CT (with an hour break for lunch). On Sunday, the workshop begins at 8 a.m. and ends around 3 p.m CT.

Yes! This is the most common problem we see at our workshop, and we have a lot of successful experience in working with these situations. Many people on our staff experienced the same thing in their marriage, and their stories are extremely helpful.
