A four-week course from Marriage Helper
Still
Standing
For the spouse who has been standing a long time and needs to see clearly.
The first weeks of a crisis have a playbook. Month fourteen doesn't.
For 32 years Marriage Helper has taught people what to do when a marriage blows up: calm down, get clarity, stop the pushes, work your PIES, use SMART Contact. That playbook works. But it was written for the storm. A long stand is a different kind of weather. It is quiet, it is unresolved, and it slowly rewrites who you are.
If any of these sound like you, you are not failing at standing. You are living inside the traps a long stand sets for everyone, and no one ever named them for you. Still Standing names all of them.

How a week runs
Every week has the same three beats, so you always know what is coming. That predictability is on purpose. Module nine will tell you why: your emotions don't need complicated plans, they need repeatable ones.
- Live teachingTuesday at noon Central, about 90 minutes. Recorded the same day if you can't be there.
- Your lab groupTen people, one time, all four weeks. Live only, working the week's tools on your actual situation with Jared in the room.
- The handbookRating scales, short reflections, a worksheet. A check-in, not a diagnosis.
Pick your lab group once. Same 10 people, same time, all four weeks.
“I want my marriage to recover, but I don't need it to recover for me to be okay.”
Student handbook, week one
Still Standing is for you if
- You have been standing for months or years, and scanning your spouse's mood has become your whole day.
- You know PIES and SMART Contact, you have done the work, and you are still living in "maybe."
- You can't tell anymore whether your spouse's story about you is softening or set in stone.
- You keep almost making a big decision just to make the uncertainty stop.
- You want your identity back, whether or not the marriage comes back.
It is not the right fit if
- Your crisis is brand new. Start with the free mini-course. The first weeks need a different playbook.
- You are not safe. Get to safety and real-life support first. Everything else can wait.
- You want someone to tell you to quit, or to promise it will work out. The course does neither. It gives you the tools to see clearly and decide for yourself.
Enroll in the September cohort
Thirty people in three lab groups of ten, four weeks, and a coach who has walked people through this exact season. You leave with a name for your own limbo, a real read on your spouse's story about you, an identity bigger than "the stander," and a values filter written down before you ever need it.
- Four live teaching sessions, recorded
- Your lab group: ten people, same time and same faces all four weeks
- The twelve-module student handbook, yours to keep
- A cohort capped at 30, so every lab is a conversation
- Your spouse is not required, and does not need to know
Questions people ask before they enroll
When does Still Standing start and end?
The course starts the week of Monday, September 14, 2026 and runs four weeks. Live teaching is every Tuesday at noon Central (September 15, 22, 29 and October 6). The last live lab is Thursday, October 8.
What does a week look like?
Three parts. Live teaching on Tuesday at 12:00 PM Central for about 90 minutes. Your lab group, which meets at the same time every week (Wednesday at 10 AM, Thursday at 11 AM, or Thursday at 6 PM Central). You pick your group when you enroll and stay with it all four weeks. Then the handbook practice on your own: rating scales, short written reflections, and worksheets for that week's modules.
What is a lab group?
Ten people who meet at the same time every week with Jared, working that week's teaching on their own situations. Same faces all four weeks, so the conversation gets more honest as it goes. The teaching tells you what the trap is. The lab is where you find out which one you are in.
How do I enroll?
Start with a short application. It asks about where you are in your stand and what you already know, because this course is built for people past the first months of a crisis. If you are a fit, you get the payment link right away, and once you have paid you pick your lab group.
What if I can't make the live teaching?
The Tuesday teaching is recorded and posted the same day, so you can watch it before your lab. Labs are live only. That is where the course actually happens, so pick the lab group whose time you can keep all four weeks.
Does my spouse need to participate?
No. Nothing in Still Standing requires your spouse to know about it or take part. Every module is about what you can see, what you can control, and what you decide.
Is this for someone whose crisis just started?
No. If your crisis is new, start with the free mini-course and the Save My Marriage course. Still Standing assumes you already know PIES and SMART Contact and are dealing with what a long stand does to a person: the limbo, the ambivalence, the identity you set aside.
Will this course tell me to keep standing or to stop?
Neither. The handbook says it plainly: the goal is clear thinking, not a reason to quit and not a reason to stay in something damaging. Week four walks through how to tell pain from damage and how to recognize a real decision point when it arrives, so the decision is yours and made on purpose.
What if I am not safe?
Safety comes before the marriage, always. If you are in a situation where you are not safe, get to safety and get real-life support now. The course can wait.
Is there a faith component?
Marriage Helper is a faith-friendly organization, and the handbook includes spiritual anchors like prayer and Scripture as options alongside physical, intellectual, and emotional ones. Nothing is required, and no one will push faith on you.
What do I get?
Four live teaching sessions, four meetings with your lab group of ten, the Still Standing student handbook (twelve modules with rating scales, reflections, and worksheets, yours to keep), and a cohort of at most 30 people walking the same four weeks with you.
How much is it?
Still Standing is $597. Enroll by Friday, September 4 and it is $497.
When does enrollment close?
When all three lab groups are full (30 seats), or when the course starts on Monday, September 14, whichever comes first.
